You are growing on numbers that are wrong.

Fifty thousand in revenue, six thousand left. I hear that more often than I would like. I work your figures back to what is really left per product and per client, so you steer on profit instead of revenue.

Reported versus actual
example
Return on ad spend
3,6× 1,8×
half of what you thought
Revenue and what you keep
€50k €6k
12 cents per euro earned
Reported After cost of goods, returns, discounts and ad spend

The problem

Four figures that are rarely right.

Not slightly off, but structurally. These are not my estimates. They have been measured and you can look them up:

What your ads report
too rosy compared to your real return
Sales your tracking sees
70–80%
the rest is counted nowhere
What comes back
19%
more than double for clothing, rarely included in your margin
What is left
3–10%
a two percent miscalculation turns profit into loss

Sources: median net margin and return rates from industry research 2026; the gap between measured and actual ad return follows from privacy rule changes since iOS 14.5. These figures are indicative, not your situation. I work yours out during the call.

Sound familiar?

Do you work like this too?

Four kinds of business. Always the same blind spot: the figure decisions are made on is not the figure that is right.

Online shop

"Everyone looks at revenue and ad return. But if almost a third comes back, that is not much use to me."

You scale on what the platform reports. After purchasing, shipping, returns and discounts, the winner sometimes turns out to be your most expensive product.

Agency

"Clients leave because they do not see the value of the ads."

Two thirds of agencies saw work move back in-house last year. The ones that did not lose it had something the client could not rebuild.

Coach

"I only see afterwards how the launch went."

Your year hangs on a few weeks, and you cannot watch it live. Meanwhile nobody is watching your payment provider or your ad account, which is exactly what can shut your business down in a single day.

Software

"We will build this ourselves some day."

True enough. The question is whether your engineers spend this quarter on your own product or on internal reporting. Clients leave, and the why is spread across ten systems.

What I do about it

Truth first. Technology after.

One figure nobody can argue with, and then the manual work around it gone. In that order, because automating what you cannot measure is expensive guesswork.

01

What is really left

Profit per product, per client and per ad, after purchasing, shipping, returns and discounts. The figure you can actually decide on.

02

Dull work gone

Work that comes back every week is done by the computer from now on. In your tone of voice, and with a limit: when in doubt it comes back to you.

03

No more retyping

The Monday morning that goes into reporting disappears. It also saves the mistakes that creep in when you retype figures.

This is what it looks like

Work the computer takes over.

No extra tool to learn. Simply work that runs by itself.

How it works

First look, then build.

A good doctor does not hand out pills before knowing what is wrong. That is how I work too.

example
1

You talk to me

One hour, free. You tell me what you run into and where your time goes. I listen and ask questions. After that you know whether I can help you.

2

I find out

I look at your software, your figures and where your time goes. Not only what you notice yourself, but what is really underneath. You get an honest picture, even when it is disappointing.

3

I make a plan

I put on paper what I am going to build, in what order, and how much time it saves you each week. There is a price with it. You buy nothing you do not need.

4

I build it

I build it on your own accounts and connect it to the software you already use, such as Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta and Stripe. The figures flow in by themselves.

5

It goes live

From day one you notice it: less figuring out, more overview. I keep it running and adjust it where needed.

6

Every month I take a look with you

I go through the figures with you. What is working well? Where is there still something to gain? That way it keeps growing with your business.

What you keep

Everything stays yours.

  • In your name. Your accounts, your subscriptions and your data stay yours. Never mine.
  • In your own environment. What I build runs in your own environment, not on some server of mine.
  • If we stop? Then it is done. Within 30 days I delete all your passwords and hand you a copy of your data.

What you get from me

I stay involved.

  • No building and disappearing. I build it, keep it running and make it better. Month after month.
  • You may use everything. For as long as we work together everything is yours to use. Do you want to keep it forever? That is possible, for a one-off amount.
  • No smooth talk. I do not make up figures and I promise nothing I cannot deliver.

Frequently asked questions

Questions that come up often.

Is your question not here? Just ask it during the call.

I work like a doctor for your business. First I look at what is going wrong: where does your time go, why has growth stopped? Then I build what fixes it. Overviews, smart helpers and systems that take work off your hands. Not a ready-made product out of a box, but something built for you, and I stay involved with it.

Two parts: a one-off amount to build it, and after that a smaller amount per month to keep it running and up to date. What it comes to depends on how many systems need connecting and how messy your data is. I only know that after the call, so a price list up front would be a shot in the dark.

For reference: in the Netherlands a well-scoped custom project usually runs between eight and sixty thousand euros, and a senior specialist charges a hundred and twenty to a hundred and seventy-five euros an hour. I deliberately sit below that, but not so far below that I cannot keep maintaining it.

Fair question, and the most common one. The answer is that your business changes every month: you add products, you switch tools, a supplier changes something. A system that does not move with it will be showing wrong figures within six months, and that is worse than no figures at all.

That is why the build is one-off and keeping it current is monthly. If you want only the build and want to maintain it yourself afterwards, that is possible too. Say so during the call and I will work it out that way for you.

It is true, and I understand why you ask. Research by Gartner expects more than forty percent of these projects to be cancelled before 2027, and MIT research found that only about five percent of pilots deliver measurable value. Usually because something was built without first agreeing what exactly it had to deliver.

That is why I work with a clearly bounded assignment and one thing that is finished and working first. Within a few weeks you see whether it is worth anything to you. If not, we stop. I would rather do that than plough on for half a year.

Online shops, agencies, coaches and software companies that are growing but losing track. There are two ways to start.

If you turn over a few hundred thousand, one bounded piece makes sense: an overview showing which product or which client actually makes you money. Fixed amount, ready in days.

Above a million it is more than that: your profit figures, your stock and your customer behaviour in one coherent picture your team can steer on. That is a project, not a single overview.

No, and I would rather be honest about that up front. You may use everything for as long as we work together. What does stay yours: your accounts, your data and your passwords. Everything runs in your own environment. If we stop, I delete all passwords within 30 days and you get a copy of your data. Do you want to keep it forever? Then you can buy it outright.

No. You can stop at the end of any month, with one month's notice. You stay because it saves you time, not because a contract ties you down.

Yes. Systems run in your own environment, access is role-based with two-factor authentication, keys are kept in a secure vault and never in code or chat, and each client has a separate environment. The arrangements are set out in the data processing agreement that comes with every assignment.

Willem van der Heijden, founder of 8eonAI. I look at your business, solve the problem and keep it running. You simply have one person who thinks along with you, not a support desk with changing faces.

Shall we talk?

One hour. Then you know enough.

I take a look and tell you whether I can genuinely do something for you. If I cannot, I say so in that same hour. I would rather do that than talk you into a project that delivers nothing. If I can, you will know exactly what and what it costs.
